Pagan Pastries

Updated: Sep 18, 2023

Ma Yim Bakery, St. Louis, Missouri

We were walking around St. Louis in Tower Grove Park, wasting time before our next event, and saw a pagan festival. While we wandered through the booths we noticed an Asian-fusion pastry stand. Lo and behold they had Vegan Tofu Curry Puffs and we had to try it for you all. The lengths we go to make sure that you don't have to suffer tasting badly made tofu! Thankfully we didn't suffer too much on this excursion. Ma Yim describes the puff uses a French-infused cooking method with sweet, savory, and spiced curry added to the pastry. The flakey outside gave it a mouth-watering experience. The sweet curry complimented each bite. The tofu was plain and didn't seem like anything was done to it, but it blended well with the rest of the dish. If you were to separate the tofu from the rest of the dish, it would be tasteless, but with the pastry and curry mix it was perfect. We would recommend this if you are in the area; its price per pastry was very good, and it was delicious!
