Recently I've had a request to share a tofu recipe, so today I will be talking about what the tofu I'm gonna be making is and how to make sure it's very good. First of all, you need to make sure that you have the right tofu brand. The one we had was very soft although the package said extra firm tofu, which definitely was not true. So we had to deal with tofu that was falling apart every second, which is very annoying. Make sure you test multiple different brands before you settle on the right one. This time we used an Aldi brand, but our favorite so far is Soy Boy tofu which is firm and does not fall apart when you are cooking it. We also like that it comes in bulk sizes.
Ingredients
Firm Tofu 16 oz
Olive Oil 1 Tablespoon
Sesame Oil 1 Tablespoon
Smoked Paprika 1/2 Tablespoon
Thyme 2 pinches
Soy Sauce 1 Tablespoon
1. Cut the tofu into small cubes. The smaller the cubes the more flavor each bite has, but don't cut them too small or they will crumble when you cook them.
2. Put the tofu in the pan on medium high heat and add olive oil. This helps the tofu not burn when you're trying to evaporate the water.
3. After all the water from the tofu is evaporated, add sesame oil. You can add more or less depending on how fatty you want to make the dish.
4. Add paprika, thyme, and soy sauce. You can add a smaller amount of soy sauce to make this less salty, although the minimum to add would be half a tablespoon. Turn it to medium heat and stir frequently to make sure it does not burn.
5. Cook for three minutes and then turn off the heat. Let it sit for one minute to cool down before you chow down!
Serves 4. We double it to have leftovers.
Enjoy!
